Discussion “Peace in Thailand’s Deep South Border: The Potential Expansion of Violence and Outsiders’ Role in the Peace Process”

Chulalongkorn University’s Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Mahidol University’s Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Deep South Watch/CSCD, and the Cross-Cultural Foundation will co-host a roundtable discussion and consultation to produce a new body of knowledge that responds to the current need for solution to the increasing expansion of violence from the SBPs. This event aims to reaffirm the importance of mainstreaming human rights and peace in the Thai government’s policy on solving the armed conflict in the SBPs and discuss possible ways to transform structural challenges that hinder the success of the ongoing peace talks, with a particular emphasis on addressing what role external agencies or organizations should assume.

Date: Tuesday, 20 August 2019, 9:00-13:00 h.

Venue: Jumpot-Pantip Meeting room, Prachatipok – Rampaipanni Building, Political Science Faculty, Chulalongkorn University
